A Dunfermline man has been put on the sex offenders register after being caught with vile images of child sex abuse.

Stuart Morris, 49, of Woodmill Road, appeared for sentencing at Dunfermline Sheriff Court for offences he previously admitted.

Between February 27, 2020 and October 28, 2021 at Rintoul Avenue, Blairhall or elsewhere, he downloaded indecent images of children.

On December 9, 2021 at Rintoul Avenue, he was in possession of cannabis.

He was also in possession of a mini flare gun without holding a firearms certificate.

The court heard there were 623 images and videos, including some in the highest category ‘A’ for the most serious content.

Sheriff Susan Duff told Morris that the reasons why “appalling” images and videos of child exploitation were made was “because there are people like you who want to view them”.

She imposed a community payback order with 270 hours of unpaid work and 18 months of supervision. Morris was also put on the sex offenders register for five years.
