Members representing Broomhall Curling Club celebrated the 100th birthday of their President, The Earl of Elgin and Kincardine, by commissioning a new trophy.

The Andrew Elgin Centenary Quaich, to be awarded during the club's annual Points competition.

A presentation was made at Broomhall House by the club chair, David Crabb, in the presence of the Lady Elgin, Lord Bruce and Lady Georgiana Bruce.

Jimmy Raeburn, president of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club (curling’s governing body) and John Taylor, from Area 10, were also present and made an award.

The Earl of Elgin has had a long association with curling globally, and started the last curling ‘Grand Match’ in 1979 on the Lake of Menteith in style, by firing his renowned cannon.
