One of Dunfermline’s beloved peacocks who had not been seen for three days was found earlier this afternoon (Monday, February 26).

The volunteers who work with the peacocks made a Facebook post earlier today to say that Hamish has not been seen since Friday evening.

But earlier this afternoon, they were able to update their post with the good news that Hamish had been found.

The updated post stated: "We've found him! He has been trapped under fencing. His tail feathers are broken, and he has a small sore bit on his beak, but he’s ok."

Volunteers had been increasingly concerned for Hamish's safety, especially as he has "a delicate leg" and there were fears he may have been lying injured in bushes somewhere.

Fortunately those fears proved unfounded and he is now being taken care of by the Peacocks in Pittencrieff Park volunteer team.

Hamish is an Indian Blue peacock and is known to “like to go for a wander around the glen and the town, and sometimes just likes to be on his own”.
