“As your local SNP candidate, I want to do all I can to give back to the many local communities who helped shape who I am today.

“As your local SNP candidate, I am determined to be the voice that awakens us from sleepwalking into further Westminster chaos and help realise our potential for a fair and prosperous future for Scotland.”

Dunfermline MSP Shirley-Anne Somerville added: "It was great to see such a strong turnout for Naz and I am really pleased that the First Minister was able to make it and show his support as well.

"I have known Naz for a number of years now and he will make an excellent MP for the new Dunfermline and Dollar constituency.

"He will work hard for local people, ensure our communities have a strong voice and stand up to the UK Government.

"Of course, Westminster will never provide the change Scotland truly needs, as that can only be realised with the full powers of independence."
