The Body Shop outlet in Dunfermline's Kingsgate Centre has survived the latest round of closures announced by the company's administrators.

The business went into administration last month and it's been announced 75 stores in the UK will close within the next four to six weeks. Seven stores have already been closed.

Eight stores in Scotland are on the list of closures, four in Glasgow, two in Edinburgh, one in Perth and one in East Kilbride.

It has been reported that around half of the UK's Body Shop outlets will be closing, with just just 116 set to remain. The latest closures will result in the loss of 489 jobs.

Administration came just weeks after the business was taken over by European private equity firm, Aurelius.

Administrators FRP Advisory said that this latest round of closures will take place as part of a heavy restructuring aimed at preserving the brand.

Joint administrator Tony Wright said: "In taking swift action to right-size The Body Shop UK store portfolio, we have stabilised the business and are providing the best opportunity for this iconic brand to have a long-term, sustainable future.

“The UK business continues to trade in administration, and we remain fully focused on exploring all options to take the business forward.”

The remaining Body Shop stores will continue to trade through stores and online during the administration process.
