PUPILS from Culross Primary School are getting ready to Ready, Steady, Read this World Book Day to raise money for new library books.

The children have challenged themselves to read as much as they can over the course of this year's World Book Week, from March 4 to 8, in the hopes of raising £300 to update the school library.

Dunfermline Press: The kids are hoping to raise £300 to buy new books for the school library.

They will raise the funds through pupil sponsorship and a community pledge. By doing this they hope to reach their goal, and if they do, Usborne will donate a percentage of the funds to them in the form of free books.

An additional percentage of funds raised will be donated by Usborne in free books and if the school can raise a total of £600 or more then Usborne will donate an additional 60 per cent of free books to the school.

Ms Wyatt, headteacher at Culross Primary, added: "A love of reading is something that we all at Culross Primary would like to encourage in our learners of all ages.

"We are really keen to ensure our school library is kept refreshed with both modern and classics including stories and information books for all interests."
