A Dunfermline nursery celebrated World Book Day in style this year.

Bumble Beez Children’s Nursery, on Transy Place, had children come in dressed up as book characters for the annual event. There was a vast array of characters turning up to nursery that day, with the Gruffalo, a Hogwarts student, and Olaf the snowman all in attendance.

Kylie O’Donnell, early years officer at the nursery, commented: “Everyone came in dressed up and quite excited to show everybody.

“The staff dressed up as the characters from The Wizard of Oz. I think it was because we had been to the panto at the Alhambra at Christmas time.”

Children celebrated World Book Day throughout the entire week and learned about what an author is, and what the different parts of a book are, such as the spine. There was a mix of costumes with some of them being handmade and others being purchased.

The kids were also able to bring in their favourite stories from home and even tried their hand at writing some stories of their own, which the teachers then wrote down for them, and helped them to make their own books.

Kylie added: “The kids just had such a great, fun day!”
