A Dunfermline-based permanent makeup artist has been shortlisted for the finals of The Scottish Nails Brows Lashes Awards.

Anita Guild, originally from Poland but who has lived in Dunfermline for 14 years, runs Anita Guild Therapies. The business offers permanent makeup services.

She commented: “I was very surprised when I received the information of being shortlisted for the finals as I didn't know I've even been nominated! I'm very happy with being nominated and shortlisted as Brow Expert of the Year 2024 Award.

"This nomination is very special and important to me, as they are made by the public. Which means my name has been put through by my customers.

“My business was founded on two main principles: outstanding service and helping others to feel good about themselves. This nomination, to me, is proof that it's working and I'm doing something right.”

Anita first became interested in a career in permanent makeup after having her eyebrows tattooed about six years ago.

“I found it fascinating - the way it made me feel, the confidence boost. And I wanted to help other to feel good about themselves.

“So, I took the plunge and signed up for my first course. Then, over the next eight months, I would train with international masters in different permanent makeup techniques, including pigmentation of eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner.” Anita added.

She has now been qualified in permanent makeup for five years.

Speaking about what her favourite thing about her job is, Anita said: “Anita Guild Therapies is a place where I take care of others. I believe that by creating natural permanent makeup, I help women feel better about themselves and, a lot of times, restore their confidence. Because which one of us doesn't like to look good when looking in the mirror and feel good in their own skin?

“The favourite part of that job is a smile and happiness on customers' faces when they see the final result. It can be quite emotional sometimes. It's a very rewarding job!

“Benefits of permanent makeup are the facts that it's long lasting. Depending on the type of the treatment, but it usually lasts between 18 months - three years before it needs to be refreshed. The eyebrows, lips, and eyeliner have the perfect shape all the time.

“It's waterproof, sweat proof, and rain proof.

“Not having to apply makeup every morning saves time, and there's no need to buy various makeup products every month. But the most important benefit is waking up feeling good and ready to go!”
