A couple from High Valleyfield celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary earlier this month.

Robert and Sadie Philp of Dunimarle Street, High Valleyfield, celebrated their diamond wedding anniversary on March 14, 2024. The couple met in 1962 at Oakley Record Club. They soon got engaged and were married in Carnock Church in 1964. 

They went on to have three sons, Roy, Gary, and Craig; followed by six grandchildren, Ross, Lauren, Shaun, Hannah, Jennifer, and Catherine. They now also have three great-grandchildren, Leona, Aleana, and Murray.

Robie and Sadie have always lived in the same street in High Valleyfield, although they moved from a flat to a house as their family grew.  They are both keen bowlers and were members of Valleyfield Bowling Club. Sadie now bowls at Headwell, and Robie at Abbeyview. 

Robie is a lifelong Pars supporter attending all games.

Visiting the couple to mark the occasion were Councillor Connor Young, who presented a gift voucher on behalf of Fife Council, and representing the Fife Lieutenancy was Group Captain James Leggat OBE, deputy lieutenant.
