NORTH Queensferry Primary School have received a positive report following their latest inspection.

After a review was carried out by Education Scotland, the school has had its qualities assessed and has been given areas to continue working on.

Following the inspection, the primary school received grades of 'good' for learning, teaching and assessment; and raising attainment and achievement.

The nursery also received grades of 'good' for learning, teaching and assessment; and securing children’s progress.

In a published letter on the inspection, Education Scotland said: "Children across the school and the nursery benefit from positive relationships with adults and each other.

"They enjoy creative and interesting approaches to learning. As a result, they are confident, articulate and are developing a good understanding about the purpose of their learning.

"Children in the school are developing a good understanding about how they can improve the local and wider community.

"Their involvement in the North Queensferry Action Plan and other local initiatives is helping them develop important knowledge and skills for life beyond school."

The letter also highlighted areas of improvement for the School and Nursery.

It continued: "Across the school and nursery, staff should continue to plan learning and teaching that takes account of the different stages and abilities of children.

"Children would benefit from further opportunities to apply their learning in real-life contexts.

"Across the school and nursery, staff should continue to raise attainment and achievement, particularly in writing and numeracy."

Education Scotland concluded that it was confident North Queensferry Primary had the capacity to continue to improve, and another visit in relation to this inspection was not necessary.  Instead, Fife Council will keep parents informed on the school's progress.
