A DUNFERMLINE musician who previously played in the Russian venue attacked by terrorists on Friday night said he was "absolutely shocked" by the atrocity.

Pete Agnew, from Nazareth, said the band had appeared three times at Crocus City concert hall, where 137 people died and more than 100 were injured on Friday night when gunmen burst into the building.

Ahead of their gig in Zilina, in Slovakia, on Saturday he told the Press: "Absolutely shocked at what happened there last night.

"Nazareth have played at Crocus City Hall three times over the past few years, in 2016, 2019 and last just before Covid in February 2020.

"The main thing we were all remembering about the place was that the security was unbelievably strict and even the band and crew had to show passports before we could get in.

"Obviously that was no deterrent for these guys."

Four gunmen burst into the venue in Krasnogorsk, a northern suburb of Moscow, on Friday night as an estimated crowd of around 6,000 people gathered for a rock concert by a band called Picnic.

The terrorists opened fire and set off explosives that started a huge fire in the concert hall.

Mourners left flowers at the scene and candles and flowers were laid in memory of the dead and wounded at monuments across Russia.

The Islamic State group, or IS, claimed responsibility for the attack and four men appeared in court today (Monday).
