A TEENAGE rapist from Townhill who told the mum of his victim that he had said sorry has been jailed.

Kyle Curran, 18, of Dundas Street, had received a message from the mother saying: "Do you know my daughter could get you done for f****** rape?"

The woman also told him in the same social media message that she was involving the police.

The High Court in Edinburgh heard that in a reply, Curran stated that he said sorry and that he knew he should not have done it.

The court heard that the distressed victim revealed she had been subjected to rape at a house in Rosyth in May 2022.

Curran had denied raping the woman but was found guilty of the offence by a majority verdict of a jury.

He was acquitted of a further charge which alleged he sexually assaulted another woman in Dunfermline in September 2021.

During the rape Curran repeatedly touched his victim's body, made sexual remarks and restrained her.

He had told the court: "It was definitely consensual. She wanted to do it."

Following the verdict Judge William Summers told Curran: "The jury has found you guilty of a very serious charge."

The judge said he recognised that he was a first offender with no previous convictions and was only 18.

But he told him: "It is a virtual certainty that in due course the court will impose a lengthy custodial sentence."

He rejected a motion to continue bail and remanded Curran in custody while a background report is prepared ahead of sentencing.

The judge told jurors it was "a difficult and anxious case".

He placed Curran on the sex offenders' register and adjourned sentence until April 23 at the High Court in Aberdeen.
