A teenager, who repeatedly caused trouble when he was staying at a homeless hostel in Dunfermline, is behind bars.

Callum Robinson, 18, now of Lochtiebank Terrace, Auchtermuchty, appeared at Dunfermline Sheriff Court by video-link from detention.

He had previously been given community disposals for a string of offences but did not comply, getting himself into more bother.

Defence solicitor Shona Westwood said her client’s period in detention had been a “wake-up call” for him.

But Sheriff Susan Duff said: “He’s not been complying with anything.”

Robinson admitted that on February 6, he failed to comply with curfew conditions.

He had previously admitted a catalogue of offending when he was staying at Dunfermline’s James Bank Hostel.

On August 7, 2022, at James Street, Dunfermline, he assaulted a staff member by seizing him by the body, pushing him and throwing a folder at him.

On the same day, he repeatedly shouted, swore and punched a glass screen causing it to smash.

On June 17, 2022, at the James Bank Hostel, he acted aggressively and repeatedly kicked a door, causing damage.

On the same day, at Carnegie Drive, he walked on the road forcing drivers to take evasive action to avoid a collision, and shouted, swore and made threats of violence towards police officers.

On May 27, 2022, he repeatedly shouted, swore, made threatening remarks to a male working there and brandished a glass bottle. He also breached a bail undertaking by consuming alcohol within the hostel.

The court was previously told the youth was refused entry to the hostel after turning up drunk at 1.25am holding a bottle of Buckfast. He threatened to smash the security guard’s car with the bottle and threatened to stab him, his wife and his children.

Sheriff Susan Duff, who had previously imposed a structured deferred sentence, imposed a six-month custodial sentence.
