An Inverkeithing woman drove home from a local pub when almost four times over the limit.

Kourtney Lyness, 27, of Spittalfield Road, made the “stupid decision” even though she could have walked home in five minutes.

Lyness appeared in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

She admitted that on March 30 in High Street, Inverkeithing, she drove having consumed excess alcohol. Her reading was 84 microgrammes of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath, the limit being 22 microgrammes.

Depute fiscal Catherine Stevenson said that at just after 12.30am police were given information about a female who had left a public house and driven away. Officers went to Lyness’ house and she confirmed she had been driving.

Defence solicitor Michael Lyon said it would only have taken his client five minutes to walk home.

He added: “She realises she should have left the car where it was.”

He said his client works for a bank as a customer adviser.

Sheriff Susan Duff told Lyness she had made “a stupid decision” to drive.

She imposed a 12-month ban and a fine of £210.
