BOSSES at ScotRail have hailed the new timetable for Inverclyde which is just over a month away from being introduced.

The new schedule which will be implemented on Sunday June 2 will introduce 30 extra services every weekday, a more frequent service between Glasgow and Wemyss Bay, and better connections between rail and ferry at Gourock.

The shakeup follows a major consultation which attracted more than 800 responses.

Bosses from the operator say the agreed Inverclyde alterations form a 'significant part' of changes being introduced on routes across the country.

Scott Prentice, ScotRail strategic planning director, said:  “This is a fantastic timetable change for our customers, delivering improvements across the country, including almost 100 additional services each day and thousands of extra seats.

“Public consultations play an active part in helping to decide what our future timetables look like, and we continue to do everything we can to look at ways of making rail an even more attractive mode of transport.

“Everyone at ScotRail is working hard to deliver a safe, reliable, and sustainable rail service that provides a positive experience for our customers.”
