DUNFERMLINE'S longest-running annual music event, Leroy Day, will return to PJ Molloys on Sunday.

It began 29 years ago after the untimely death of Alan 'Leroy' Bedborough, a beloved figure in the local music scene, and has continued to be a testament to his memory.

What started as a gig in his honour in the Somewhere Else pub in 1995 has now become a cherished tradition, still going strong in 2024!

Organiser Billy George said: "It really has been a remarkable event for so long, in so many different venues before settling in PJs a good number of years ago.

"We've based it around a group of older musicians such as Leroy's bands Honk and Factory Janet, Jimmy Clouston, Craig Anderson, John Gallacher, Stevie Agnew, Mikey McNeil and James Ward, and added lots of young emerging talent over the years.

"This year we even have two young bands from the north east of Scotland, in Virtues and Pages, as well as young Brodie Campbell, Model Worker and Birrell or Biscuit.

"We'll also have our regular DJ, Mikey Inglis, and friends on the decks throughout the day.

"It promises to be another cracking event."

Doors open at 3pm and the event runs until 2am.

Entry is £10 on the door and all profits will go to the local suicide prevention charity, Tartan Talkers.
