A WEST Fife charity says its service has been secured for several years to come after it landed a massive funding boost.

The Children's Clothing Bank Dunfermline was this week named as Scotmid's East Region Community Connect Winners which brought with it a prize of £15,000.

Trustee Mary-Grace Smith said they were shocked to win and said the funds would allow them to continue the vital work they are carrying out.

"It is phenomenal for us," she said. "£15,000 is a huge amount of money for a small charity like us.

"We'll be able to provide about 430 clothes parcels with that money. Financially, it secures our service for a good couple of years. We don't get funding from any statutory organisation like the NHS or Fife Council so we have to self fund.

"To get an amount of money like this is a big sigh of relief."

Since opening in 2020, the charity– which relies on its team of around 30 volunteers – has provided more than 1,700 clothing parcels to families in need in the Dunfermline area.
