A NEW bottle shop is set to open in Aberdour this summer.

The Drinks Cabinet, a wine, beer and spirits store, will move into the empty Post and Pantry unit on the High Street in mid-July.

Peter and Fiona Allan, who own The Purple Shop, are excited about their new venture.

Fiona told the Press: "We have loved growing the wine, beer and spirit collection within The Purple Shop and they’ve been really well received. This just gives us the chance to hopefully expand and improve on that selection in the new shop."

They're looking forward to stocking their shelves with a range of options, ranging from affordable to premium price points.

On top of that, they also hope to hold tasting events so that their customers can gain a deeper understanding of the wines, beers and spirits they already love, and gain some new favourites.

She continued: "We want this to be wine for all, there will be a range of price options.

"What I’m really hoping for is that we can create a warm and welcoming vibe because I think wine can have a reputation of being stuffy and that’s not what we want, we want people to feel that they can come in, have a browse and find a nice bottle of wine within everyone's price range.

"There should be something for everyone, and everyone is welcome to come in and have a look and a chat and not feel any pressure."

And their favourite part about owning and running an independent business? They can listen to what their customers want and order in stock accordingly.

Fiona and Peter will encourage their customers to let them know what they would like to see in The Drinks Cabinet so they can order it in for them.

Fiona said: "We’re small, we’re local and we can respond to what people want to see on our shelves."
