A 50-year-old man was found with almost £40,000 in bank notes when his car was stopped by police on the M90 motorway.
The cash was crammed into carrier bags, Dunfermline Sheriff Court heard.
Scott Darroch, of Eastfield Crescent, Dumbarton, appeared by video-link from prison.
He admitted an offence under the Misuse of Drugs Act that on January 6 last year on the M90 southbound he was in possession of criminal property, namely £39,580 in banknotes.
Sheriff Krista Johnston jailed Darroch for 19-and-a-half months and forfeiture of the cash was granted.
