FAMILIES gathered for the much anticipated Crossford Children's Gala on Saturday.

With the sun shining and an array of activities, rides, stalls and food and drink on offer, it was no wonder a large crowd from the village and beyond flocked to King George V Park.

There was a week of events leading up to the big day which kicked off at 11am with a pipe band leading the parade which saw various local groups and families take part.

And there was plenty of colourful characters in the procession, including Cruella and her dalmatians, the minions and even Lightning McQueen, with fancy dress prizes up for grabs later in the day.

At the gala field, families enjoyed the stalls, entertainment and rides - which included a helter-skelter, inflatables and funfair rides - and a well stocked beer tent helped quench the thirst on a hot day.

Dancing, music and the football finals also kept the crowds entertained.

A Facebook post from Crossford Children's Gala said: "So gala is over for another year.

"Thank you to all the children for dressing up so nicely for the parade.

Thank you to all the stall holders, DJs, scouts, police volunteers and anyone else that helped out. Everyone that volunteered made the day possible.

"Lastly a massive shout out to the committee, without whom none of this would happen!"
