A DUNFERMLINE bus driver has been named the best in the east - for the EIGHTH time.

Brian Mackie, who works at the city depot, took top spot in the Stagecoach Driver of the Year competition for the East of Scotland.

And two of his colleagues from Dunfermline finished in second and third.

Now Brian, Aleksei Solovjov and Angela Robb are all aboard for the national finals in Blackpool.

"This competition is a chance to recognise and reward our drivers for their efforts, and we would encourage all our drivers to enter next year."

All three drivers will journey south for the Bus Driver of the Year final in Blackpool where they will have the opportunity to once again demonstrate their knowledge, skills, and expertise by completing a three-mile course, including manoeuvring exercises followed by a circuit, in normal traffic, along the iconic Blackpool Promenade and Middle Walk.

The final will take place on Sunday, September 1.
