THE ADMIRALTY Road roundabout in Rosyth and its slips roads connecting to the M90 will be closed for four nights.

A section of the northbound carriageway of the motorway will also be shut for a time as part of resurfacing works to improve the condition of the road, fill in potholes and deliver smoother journeys.

The programme will be carried out by Bear Scotland, the operating company of Transport Scotland, on the nights of Friday June 28, Monday July 1, Tuesday July 2 and Wednesday July 3.

To ensure the safety of motorists and the workforce, the A985 Admiralty Roundabout and all slip roads at M90 Junction 1C will be closed between 8pm and 6am each night.

Tommy Deans, Bear Scotland’s south east network manager, said: “These surfacing improvements will address and repair defects in the road surface such as potholes and cracks, creating safer and smoother journeys for motorists.

“It is essential for the safety of the workforce that we close the carriageway during these works, however we’ve scheduled them during overnight hours to minimise any disruption.

“We thank motorists in advance for their patience while our teams carry out these improvements.”

The following diversion routes will be signposted:

Between the M90 northbound and Kings Road Roundabout on the A985, via the A823(M) and the B980;

Between the M90 northbound and Inverkeithing, via the A823(M), Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Lapwing Drive, Aberdour Road and the B981;

Between the M90 southbound and Kings Road Roundabout on the A985, via Junction 1B Ferrytoll, the B981 Milne Road, Millenium Avenue and Castle Road, continuing to and from Inverkeithing via Queensferry Road, Carnegie Avenue, Lapwing Drive, Aberdour Road and the B981.

On the night of Tuesday July 2, the M90 northbound main carriageway will also be closed at Junction 1B Ferrytoll, with a diversion route to M90 Junction 2 Masterton signposted via the B981 Milne Road, Millenium Avenue, Castle Road, Queensferry Road and the A823(M).

This diversion will add approximately 2.8 miles and 10 minutes to affected journeys.

Consultation has been carried out with emergency services and other relevant stakeholders to share information about the project in advance.

All work is weather dependent and subject to postponement in the event of adverse conditions.

Motorists are encouraged to plan ahead before setting out by checking the Traffic Scotland website www.traffic.gov.scot for up-to-date travel information and allowing extra time for their journey.
