A DUNFERMLINE teen has started building herself a bright career in construction.
Casey Gardner, 19, will undertake an SVQ level 6 apprenticeship in Painting and Decorating, where she will hone her craft between Fife College and Persimmon Homes North Scotland sites over the course of a four-year apprenticeship.
Looking forward to starting her studies, she said: “I’m excited to start my new career with Persimmon North Scotland and begin my course at Fife College.
“I’m grateful for the opportunity to work with one of the biggest home-builders in Britain, where I can learn the tricks of the trade from some of the best in the business.”
To help Casey start her career in style, Persimmon has provided her with all the tools and equipment required to succeed in her apprenticeship, ensuring that the financial cost of equipment isn’t a barrier to her success.
William Smith, Persimmon’s regional apprenticeship manager, added: “We’re delighted to welcome Casey to the business. Her determination to succeed on site caught our eye and we are excited to see her develop throughout her apprenticeship.
“We pride ourselves on working closely with local construction colleges across the country, including Fife College, to ensure that young people with the ambition and attitude needed to succeed in the industry are given a platform to do so locally.”
Persimmon Homes, one of the nation’s largest home-builders, is continuing to invest in its future talent pipeline with the recruitment of 10 new apprentices across its three operating businesses in Scotland.
