A ROSYTH man has appeared back in court for offences committed almost four years ago.

Lewis Clay, 20, of Whinnyburn Place, assaulted a police officer and later viciously attacked a 15-year-old girl at Silver Sands beach, Aberdour.

He narrowly avoided detention when he was sentenced in 2022 and put on a community payback order which was then breached.

That resulted in Clay appearing back in the dock at Dunfermline Sheriff Court to be sentenced again.

The unpaid work was supposed to be his “last chance” and the original sheriff said that the order would hang over the offender like a “sword of Damocles” to ensure he complied.

Clay previously admitted that on 27th November 2020 near Coady’s, Pilmuir Street, he assaulted a police officer by pushing him to the face and knocking his glasses off.

He also admitted that on 18th March 2021 at Silver Sands, Aberdour, he assaulted a girl then aged 15 by repeatedly punching her on the head and body to her injury.

Sheriff Susan Duff has now imposed a structured deferred sentence which will run until 18th October
