PLANS to cut speed in Crossford came a step closer with the publication of a legal order notice.

Fife Council has proposed an order to introduce a 40mph limit on the A994 from 100 metres east of Hilton Road in Cairneyhill to 16m west of Douglas Drive in Crossford.

They order also covers a move to bring in a 20mph limit on Main Street from Lundin Road, on Waggon Road, from Main Street for 640m and on Cairneyhill Road from Lundin Road for 440m.

Fife councillors had given their backing to the changes earlier this year and the publication of the order is required before the reductions can be implemented.

In February, Dunfermline Central councillor Aude Boubaker-Calder had asked for a report to be produced looking at reducing the speed limit on the A994 between Crossford and Cairneyhill from 60mph to 40mph.

She said residents of Crossford and Cairneyhill have been concerned about speeding drivers on the A994 between the two villages for years.
