THE road through Cairneyhill could see speed limits reduced from 30mph to 20mph.

Fife Council are proposing that the limit on the A994 Main Street should be cut under the Road Traffic Regulation Act 1984.

Councillors backed the move at the South and West Fife area committee meeting in April.

At that time, Cllr Graeme Downie told the Press: "I've complained about this one before and residents on Main Street in particular, where their houses are really close to the road, have been asking about this for a while."

If the road traffic order is approved, the new 20mph speed limit will be set for Main Street from a point 100 metres east of Hilton Road to a point 20m west of Glen Moriston Drive.

Full details of the proposal can be found online, at Fife Council Headquarters, Fife House, North Street in Glenrothes or through public access at your local library.
