Drivers from Stagecoach’s Dunfermline depot are set to compete in the UK Bus Driver of the Year competition.

The event, taking place in Blackpool on September 1, will see Brian Mackie, Aleksei Solojov, and Angela Robb represent Stagecoach East Scotland after securing the top three spots in the regional heats.

The annual competition tests bus drivers' knowledge, skills, and expertise in various challenges, both theory-based and practical.

David Frenz, operations director at Stagecoach East Scotland, said: “We are very proud of Brian, Aleksei and Angela for placing so highly in the East Scotland Bus Driver of the Year competition and we can’t wait for them to compete in Blackpool on Sunday.

“This competition is a chance to recognise and reward our drivers for their efforts, and we wish Brian, Aleksei and Angela all the best and hope they have a fantastic time competing in Blackpool.”

At the final, the drivers will undergo several tests, including a theory examination and an on-road driving course featuring precision driving manoeuvres along a specially registered bus route called Middle Walk, which runs along the iconic Blackpool Promenade.
