FIFE COUNCIL say Halbeath Park and Ride is “particularly busy” and are monitoring the situation.

This comes after Traffic Scotland posted on X, formerly known as Twitter, earlier this week to say that spaces at the park and ride was full.

The post stated: “Please bear in mind that the Halbeath Park & Ride is currently full. You can see alternative P&R options via the live map on our site: http://traffic.gov.scot .”

Cllr Aude Boubaker-Calder, commented: “I have received reports of individuals being ticketed, which seems to be linked to vehicles not being parked within designated spaces.

“It appears that there are capacity issues at Halbeath Park-and-Ride, possibly due to a combination of factors.

“The Liberal Democrat group is actively seeking answers from Fife Council to determine the root cause of this problem and to understand what solutions will be put in place to address it.”

Cllr Derek Glen said that the park and ride could be busier due to “different elements; holiday parking, increased demand for buses, maybe even exacerbated by people taking advantage of the good weather to do impromptu day trips.

“Clearly safety access is important to maintain there, but I think the council was issuing some tickets to customers who weren’t parking in the bays.”

Lead consultant, car parking strategy and operations, Andy Paterson said: "We patrol the park and ride site at Halbeath on a daily basis.

"At the moment the site is particularly busy, and we are monitoring the situation to make sure the site is being used according to the rules and regulations in place.

“There are no extra patrols planned but we would ask people to make sure they are parking correctly and considerately when using the park and ride."
