Dunfermline’s Media City Showcase has announced their 2025 speaker line-up. Audiences can attend, for free, and hear from those who have made their way into the media industry.
The event will be held at Carnegie Hall, Dunfermline, on Saturday, November 8 from 1pm to 5pm.
In attendance includes award-winning Emilie Stewart, a documentary maker, and Olive Sinclair, an animator. Both were celebrated at the recent Scottish Youth Film Festival.
They will be showcasing their work and discussing the creative process, while also investigating how film can be used as activism.
Exploring the importance of the story is television producer Cameron Miller. Adam Proctor, from Fife-based production studio FortSunlight who has crafted films for the BBC, STV, and HBO, will be joining him.
Heather Bowry from Scottish Youth Film Foundation will talk about connecting and networking, and why they are crucial in the industry.
After hearing from the speakers, the audience will have a chance to ask any burning questions in a panel session.
The question-and-answer session also allows attendees to get to know the presenters.
CampusCast from Fife College and the team behind Peacock Cinema Podcasts will feature on the Podcasting Panel.
Finally, you don’t need to be a filmmaker to gain entry to the media landscape.
Kirsty Haydock, leader of the Employability team at Fife Council, will tell the crowd all about the various roles that fall into a media career, such as costume designers, electricians, accountants, and animators.
Chair of the Dunfermline Regeneration Trust, Derek Glen, said: “Dunfermline Media City is an idea which builds on our city status and gives an exciting vision of Dunfermline as a centre of excellence for people learning, training and working in Scotland’s film and television industry.
“The Showcase will highlight the opportunities and successes we already have across the city.
“And the aim is to create more ways for people to collaborate and get involved, without having to leave for London or further afield.”
