The Met Office has issued a yellow warning for snow and ice expected to cause disruption today
The warning applies to central and northern parts of mainland Scotland on Tuesday, January 6.
The Met Office said: "Precipitation is likely to fall on to frozen surfaces, particularly during Tuesday morning, bringing the potential for widespread icy conditions to develop."
Temperatures in Dunfermline will be at freezing from 7am, climbing to 2°C by late morning.
This morning will start dry, but the chance of rain will increase from 8am onwards.
From 10am, when temperatures rise to 2°C, there will be a 50 per cent chance of precipitation.
This chance increases to 80 per cent by midday, with temperatures reaching 3°C.
This level of likelihood for snow and icy conditions is expected to persist throughout the afternoon.
There is a 90 per cent chance of rain from 2pm until 3pm.
By 5pm, temperatures will remain 3°C, with the chance of rain reducing to 50 per cent.
The conditions are expected to ease as the evening progresses.
By 6pm, the Met Office predicts a 40 per cent chance of rain, with the temperature expected to be around 2°C.
