Traffic Scotland has warned there may be a high risk of disruption for drivers in Fife due to today’s miserable weather.
It is urging drivers to plan ahead and avoid unnecessary travel between now and 6pm.
A statement issued by the body says: “All road users should consider if they really need to travel during adverse weather.
“Consider delaying travel until conditions improve. If you are travelling on the roads, prepare yourself and your vehicle for the conditions. Ensure your mobile phone is charged and plan your journey, including an alternative route.
“Have sufficient fuel, warm clothing, food and water in case you’re delayed. Do not ignore road closure signs, they are there for your safety. Congestion caused by vehicles may restrict emergency services and recovery vehicles from providing essential assistance.”
It comes after Police Scotland said that a yellow weather warning issued by the Met Office for parts of Fife could cause hazardous conditions.
The alert doesn’t stretch into the Kingdom’s west, but it could still be affected by traffic coming into the area.
Chief superintendent Scott McCarren, who is the force’s head of road policing, said: “Stay tuned to media outlets for further updates, and consult the Traffic Scotland website and social media channels for information relating to affected roads.”
