An epic cycling journey between Boring and Dull will be brought to life in Dunfermline this February.
Mark Wedgwood will tell the story of his near 4,000-mile trip that took him from the town in the USA to its uninspiring equivalent twin in Scotland.
It's part of the Royal Scottish Geographical Society’s (RSGS) Inspiring People programme, which brings stories of exploration to audiences across Scotland.
The open road, mountain ranges, and the wilds of the Pacific Northwest formed the backdrop for Mark's 2023 adventure, which began after a month of serious trekking through the mountains and wilderness of the Cascade Range in America.
Spotting an opportunity for a unique journey, he set off from the humorously named town of Boring in Oregon, eventually arriving in the Scottish village of Dull by way of Iceland.
He said: "I am really excited to once again take part in the RSGS Inspiring People talks.
"Being a speaker to such genuinely curious and knowledgeable audiences in many Scottish venues in 2024 was a brilliant experience, so I'm thrilled to be asked back.
"This will be a new talk about a different adventure – the story of my 2023 trans-continental cycle ride from Boring (Oregon) to Dull (Scotland): a mad idea that became reality.
"I'm looking forward to sharing this memorable life experience with you in early February, and I will do my best to bring every aspect of this challenge to life."
Dunfermline will be one of five Scottish cities to host him during the first week of February, alongside Aberdeen, Dundee, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
His journey was inspired partly by the odd pairing of Boring and Dull, two communities linked together by their light-heartedly pedestrian names.

"Cycling 4,000 miles is no small feat, and his journey promises to be filled with remarkable stories that will resonate with anyone seeking adventure, determination, and inspiration.”
Mark's talk will take place at 7pm on Wednesday, February 4, at Dunfermline High School on Jennie Rennies Road.
The Inspiring People talks are open to all, with free entry for RSGS members, students, and under-18s.
General admission is priced at £15, and tickets can be booked online in advance at rsgs.org/events or purchased at the door.
