Fife weather forecast for Tuesday amid ice warning

The warning, which is in place from Monday 6pm, follows a forecast of clearing skies after rain, sleet, and hill snow, raising the risk of icy patches.

Morning temperatures on Tuesday are expected to hover around 0°C at 6am, dropping slightly to -1°C by 8am, before warming again.

These conditions mean ice is likely on some pavements and untreated roads, Met Office experts have warned.

From midday, the sunshine and temperatures of around 3°C will thaw most main routes; however, shaded or high spots could stay icy.

The sun is expected to shine brightly in the afternoon until about 5pm when temperatures drop to 1°C.

Tuesday night will see another drop in temperatures back to -2°C by 10pm, causing any damp patches to potentially refreeze.

The Met Office suggests footpaths and roads along main routes which are likely to be less slippery should be used.

They told drivers to check road conditions and amend travel plans accordingly, adding: "Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays."

Forecasts predict the wind will remain steady throughout the day, peaking at 10mph at 6am, before easing to 6mph by 11pm.

The Met Office has warned any damp patches could refreeze, adding to the icy conditions on untreated surfaces overnight into Wednesday.

Despite these icy conditions, the chance of rain is very low throughout the day, under 5 per cent.
