"ANY would be criminals" should know you CAN be caught on camera in Inverkeithing.
There have been suggestions that the CCTV system in the town centre is not working - and that those doing wrong are getting away with it.
But local councillor Patrick Browne confirmed that they are watching you.
He said: “From speaking with local residents there seems to be a belief that the four CCTV cameras covering Inverkeithing town centre aren’t operational.
"Having checked with Fife Council’s community safety team and Police Scotland I can confirm they definitely do work and are monitored by the police 24/7.
“In fact, last year they were used by the police to take forward a number of criminal investigations in Inverkeithing as well as to respond to dynamic incidents including missing persons reports."
Cllr Browne continued: "The cameras in Inverkeithing are paid for by £1.5 million council funding over five years which includes a new wi-fi fast fibre upgrade of the 102 CCTV cameras across Fife.
The cameras feed into a control room in Glenrothes police sub-headquarters as part of a partnership with the police.
“The cameras are there to protect the public and local businesses but also help with monitoring traffic heading for the Forth bridges.
"So any would be criminals thinking of getting up to no good within reach of the cameras should really think twice unless they want to feature on their own personalised version of candid camera.”
