The yellow thunderstorm warning that has been in place for Fife since midnight will now be in place until tomorrow at 3am.

Severe flooding has caused disruption across the Kingdom, with pupils of Inverkeithing High School sent home, and vehicles struggling to get through large puddles during the morning commute.

A statement from the Met Office explained that the alert was extended “to cater for slower clearance of rain across the far north of Scotland.”

Traffic Scotland has urged drivers to take precautions.

It said: “Give yourself the best chance of avoiding delays by checking road conditions if driving, or bus and train timetables, amending your travel plans if necessary.”

Weather-related updates will be shared as they come in via our live blog.
