Inverkeithing’s Divit-Fest has been hailed as “absolutely stunning” after crowds turned out in force for a packed weekend of music, stalls and children’s competitions.
Inverkeithing Community Council chair Helen Doig said the event, organised by Andrew and Ashley Young and held at Ballast Bank, once again drew in visitors from across the town and surrounding area.
Last year’s festival was staged in September, but this year’s move to July brought brighter conditions – even if strong winds forced organisers to take down some of the lighter gazebos on the Saturday.
Despite that, Helen said the weather “didn’t detract at all from the day” and the fairground rides, food and community stalls went down well with residents.
Across the two days, families enjoyed live sets from a string of bands and performers, alongside DJs, amusement rides, bouncy castles and a busy food and drink offer.
Saturday’s running order saw acts play from late morning through to 10pm, while Sunday included a kids’ competition and more music to keep the site lively until early evening.
Helen said events like Divit-Fest are another example of Inverkeithing punching above its weight as a small town of around 5,000 people, drawing in visitors from Dunfermline, Dalgety Bay and beyond.
“These kind of things are good for everyone,” she said. “In the way the world is at the moment, it’s always good to have something – a form of escapism, I suppose.”
