A wildfire warning has been issued across Fife, with the risk of incidents listed as “very high”.
It will be in place throughout today as temperatures of up to 27 °C cause dry conditions across the Kingdom.
The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service’s deputy assistant chief officer, Kenny Barbour said: “It’s extremely important members of the public exercise extreme caution and think twice before using anything involving a naked flame during a wildfire warning.
“These fires place a huge drain on our resources and pose a threat to the safety of our firefighters and members of our communities.”
Such blazes are a growing problem in Scotland, and human behaviour can limit the chance of them happening.
Disposing of cigarettes and smoking materials safely after ensuring they have been fully extinguished is necessary, and campfires or barbecues should never be left unattended.
