A THIEF broke into a Dalgety Bay home in the early hours of Friday morning and stole car keys.
The suspect was disturbed after waking those inside and fled with the keys.
Now, police are appealing for witnesses after the housebreaking and attempted vehicle theft.
The incident happened at around 2.55am on Friday at an address in the White Quay area.
The suspect forced entry by smashing a window at the front of the property, waking those inside.
Once inside, the suspect attempted to steal the occupant’s car by taking a set of car keys.
The suspect is described as a white male, wearing dark-coloured clothing.
Inquiries are continuing to trace those responsible and anyone with information is asked to come forward.
Detective Constable Alasdair Young, of Dunfermline CID, said: “We are keen to hear from anyone who saw any suspicious activity in the area during the early hours of Friday morning or who knows who is responsible.
“On this occasion, the suspect was disturbed by the householder and managed to flee with a set of keys.
“I would remind people to be vigilant and ensure their property is secure and valuable items are kept out of sight.”
Anyone with information is asked to contact Dunfermline CID via 101, quoting incident number 0301 of 10 November. Alternatively, an anonymous report can be made through the charity Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
