The Queen has sent a message of support to the president of the Philippines Rodrigo Duterte following the death and destruction caused by Typhoon Mangkhut.
The Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh sent “sincere condolences” to all those affected by the disaster which struck the country at the weekend.
The Queen said: “I was deeply saddened to learn of the loss of life and the devastation caused by Typhoon Mangkhut.
“Prince Philip and I send our sincere condolences to all the victims, to those who have lost loved ones, and to those who have seen their homes and property destroyed.
“My thoughts and prayers are with all those affected by these tragedies.”
Mangkhut, the most powerful storm to hit the Philippines this year, left at least 74 people dead and dozens missing, mostly following an avalanche in the goldmining town of Itogon in Benguet province.
The storm later blew on to Hong Kong and southern China, where it caused more deaths and damage.
