A ROSYTH councillor has accused Stagecoach of showing a "complete disregard" for bus passengers in Camdean.

SNP councillor Sharon Wilson is seeking answers from Stagecoach regarding a change of route to the 7 service, which has left residents facing lengthy delays for buses.

Ms Wilson said: "I have written to the both the managing director and commercial director of Stagecoach informing them of residents’ complaints and asking what measures they are taking to address this omnishambles of a service change.

"I have had no acknowledgement, let alone a reply, which shows a complete disregard by Stagecoach for their customers. I am now asking them to engage with me and the community as a matter of urgency.

"Many elderly people really rely on the buses and I am very concerned for them as winter approaches.

"Residents didn't think the change was necessary and they've been proved right.

"It's terrible waiting at a bus stop for such a long length of time. I'm looking for Stagecoach to address the situation."

Concerns were brought to Councillor Wilson's attention by locals who have had to wait up to an hour for the 7 service in the afternoons and who are keen to see the 19 service return to Camdean.

Douglas Robertson, commercial director, Stagecoach East Scotland, said: "The changes we proposed for our network back in June were designed to offer the widest bus network possible for as many people as possible with the finite resources available and based on the levels of passenger demand in the area.

"We received a lot of great feedback from our customers who regularly use our services, through our drop-in sessions, online via feedback forms and through our customer services team.

"We made a number of adjustments to our proposals after these consultations, however, our network changes have been designed to better match the level of usage we have seen in recent years in these areas.

"Although the frequency of journeys has been reduced to match lower levels of demand, by using a revised route 7 to serve Camdean, residents now have new direct journey opportunities to Inverkeithing, Dalgety Bay and coastal villages to Kirkcaldy, Victoria Hospital and Leven up to every 30 minutes.

"Unfortunately, we have seen some initial running problems with the revised route 7, particularly due to the volume of roadworks along the route in the Kirkcaldy area and we have been monitoring the service closely as well as investigating any issues raised by passengers.

"Once again, we would like to thank our customers, as well as Cllr Wilson for providing further information to assist with our ongoing analysis."

Stagecoach told the Press that their managing director will be in contact with Cllr Wilson to discuss the issue in due course.
