A ROSYTH man assaulted his mum when she did not buy him cannabis, a court has heard.

Regan Ward, 20, who told his mum to buy him alcohol and cannabis, was upset when she returned with booze but no drugs.

Ward, unemployed, now of Foote Place, appeared from custody at Dunfermline Sheriff Court.

He admitted that on Monday at The Byres, Rosyth, he assaulted his mother by seizing her by the body and clothing and pulling her to the ground.

Depute fiscal Azrah Yousaf told the court Ward was living with his mother at the time of the offence.

“He had asked her to buy him alcohol and cannabis. She returned with just the alcohol and he was not happy about that,” said the depute.

“He seized her by the body, pulled her top, ripping it and pulling it over her head.”

Defence solicitor Sarah Meehan said her client was upset because he had not been given money by his mother.

“Recently, they have had a fairly volatile relationship. She had indicated she would give him money. When she didn’t he confronted her. He has expressed great remorse,” she went on.

The solicitor said Regan is registered as an alcoholic, is on medication for seizures and also has mental health difficulties. She added he was now staying with his father.

Sheriff Craig McSherry deferred sentence until November 15.
