A section of Paisley Road West has been closed to traffic after a multi-vehicle crash involving a bus. 

The collision, which is believed to have occurred near to the junction with Cardonald Place, happened at around 3.40pm today. 

Police have confirmed they are currently on scene, but have not yet had any reports of injuries.

Onlookers spoke of hearing loud bangs, like gunshots.

Sajjad Alhamdani, from Govan, who works in a nearby garage ran out to help, along with his supervisor. 

The 21-year-old said: “People were crying, I was so scared.

"People were screaming, shouting. It was like out of the movies.

"I was serving a customer and I heard two big bangs.

"It was really loud bangs, like fireworks or gunshots or something. It was terrifying.

"I called 999 and my supervisor and me ran outside. We took the fire extinguishers.

"Some of the cars were really badly damaged and we were worried they might go on fire. Then we waited for the police."

Another eye witness said: “Everyone got taken into the next house.

"Apparently they were being treated for shock.

"There were police out looking with torches for someone underneath.

"Multiple ambulances but unsure if anyone was taken away.

"People in the house are gone. I hope everyone’s alright”

It's understood the number three bus turned onto the busy street from Tweedsmuir Road before hitting two cars, one taxi and the island in the middle of the road.

It then collided with the garden wall. 

A spokeswoman for Police Scotland said: "Police were called at around 3.40pm to a report of a bus colliding with a garden wall on Paisley Road West near to the junction with Cardonald Place. 

"There are no reports of injuries at the moment.

It has been confimed Paisley Road West is closed to all traffic in both directions at its junction with Tweedsmuir Road.

Drivers are advised to avoid the area and note that the closure may be in place for the duration of tonight’s peak period.

An eye witness said: "It’s an f****** mad man.

"The boy came stoatin’ round the corner and he must’ve been going too fast, hit the cars and must have hit the kerb.

"F****** ridiculous speed. There were loads of police and that.”

A spokeswoman for First Bus confirmed: “We can confirm that thankfully there have been no reported injuries and an investigation is now underway to identify the cause of the incident.”
