PITREAVIE AAC finished third in the opening match of this season's National Women's League on 17th April Stacey Downie completed an impressive double on the track where she trains, winning both the 100 metres A in 11.97 seconds and the 200m A in 23.95.

Jackie Tindal, although still recovering from recent illness, won the shot putt A with 11.35m and was third in the javelin A with 34.14m while masters athlete Norma Bruce made a welcome return to the team by winning the B javelin with a throw of 26.09.

Kathryn Pennel came third in the 800m in a time of 2:19.31 and Carly Kirkpatrick came third in both the discus B (21.24m) and the shot putt B (8.51m) on her debut for the club.

For the under-17s Naomi Fox was second in both of the A hurdles races with times of 48.93 at 300m and 12.37 at 80m.

Rose Fagan took third in the 300m hurdles B race in 52.48. Louise Russell also picked up a brace of second places in her events, 100m A in 12.93 and 200m B in 26.88. Kirsten Galbraith was third in the 200m A race in 26.53 but won the long jump with a leap of 5.36m.

At under-15 level Pitreavie's sprinters were in excellent form. Sarah Connor won the 100m A in 12.95 and the 200m A in 27.17, while team mate Sarah Anderson repeated the feat in the B races with times of 13.35 at 100m and 28.66 at 200m.

In the high jump Kirsten Loudon won the A event with 1.50m and Sarah Allan was second in the B event with 1.35m. Chloe Nethery took third in the A discus with a throw of 16.88m and Ellis Stuart-Duncan was second in the B event with 14.35m.

Leah Davie was the top performer for the under-13s, winning the 800m A in 2:32.85 and coming third in the 200m B with 30.58.

There were also good performances in the shot putt from Rebecca Porter (3rd A 7.62m) and Chloe Davie (1st B 6.49m) and in the long jump from Jessica Downey (4th A 3.81) and Sophie Nethery (3rd B 3.45m).

Meanwhile at Grangemouth the men's team had a difficult start to their national league campaign.

With many senior athletes unavailable for selection a number of under-17s had to be drafted in.

Ewan Dyer won the 400m hurdles A in a new PB of 56.79 and there was also a win for Craig Robertson in the 800m A in a time of 1:54.94.

Craig then went on to record 4:4.73 in the 1500m, taking second place in the process. David Agnew finished third in the 110m hurdles with a time of 16.83.

In the field events there was an impressive win from Andy Frost in the hammer with 66.38m and two second places for Donald Tod in the long jump (6.39m) and the triple jump (12.01m).

Two of the younger athletes achieved new PBs, Glenn Murray (11.97) at 100m and Scott McAlpine (2:07.62) at 800m.
