Broomhall took on West Lothian County seconds at The Cairns in Division Two and a fine all-round performance from them saw a seven-wicket victory.

The visitors won the toss and elected to bat first but soon lost wickets and never really got the scoreboard ticking along freely.

Indeed, a four-wicket Gibson haul ripped out the West Lothian middle order and there were only two significant contributions from the visiting batting. Gibson took four wickets for only 11 runs in nine overs. Chasing 146, Ian Bold gave Broomhall a good start and although a couple of wickets went cheaply, a partnership between Lewis James and Chris Hoefling assured a comfortable home win with nine overs to spare.

West Lothian seconds (5) 146, (R Corner 51, D Bennie 33, S Gibson 4 for 11, J Grant 2 for 3, L Doherty 2 for 30).

Livi found the going difficult at times against some decent bowling but picked up runs through a couple of good contributions and in the 30 overs agreed per side by the skippers, made 117 for the loss of seven wickets.

Shazhad got the innings off to a decent start but some good bowling by Anwar saw wickets fall and although Walley also made a good contribution, they finished 45 runs short.

Glens struggled against some tight bowling by Picksley and Price and lost wickets but a couple of good stands kept them up with the run rate and it needed some good catching to get the wickets which gave the Bay the verdict.

Dalgety Bay (20) 186 for 9, (P Newson 61, Ja Price 33, B Wardle 2 for 16).

Glenrothes thirds (10) 175 for 8, (B Wardle 43, M Taiha 38, Ja Price 3 for 21, P Price 2 for 30).

Mike Warren’s superb figures of four for 12 in eight, well backed up by Paul Gudgin (2 for 15) ensured that runs were at a premium. However, two good late contributions from Ramsay and Shalabda took the total to 118.

With the track still favouring the bowlers, it was going to be a tough target but Mike Jones and Robin Orr got the scoreboard rattling along. However, once they went wickets fell regularly and the last three batters all made ducks, leaving them 11 short.
