DUNFERMLINE have taken former Hearts midfielder Scott Robinson on trial and completed the signing of ex-Hibernian youngster Conner Duthie.

Duthie, 19, has signed on until the end of the season after being released by the Easter Road club, while Robinson was freed by Kilmarnock.

Robinson, 24, played in the under-20s 3-2 win at Hamilton Accies on Tuesday night and speaking to the media yesterday (Thursday), Pars boss Allan Johnston said: "Gary Locke signed him for Kilmarnock and I spoke to him about him. He rates him really highly so he has been coming in just to keep fit. We will see where it progresses from there. There is no harm in having a look.

"We managed to bring in young Conner Duthie as well. He has played really well for the 20s in their last couple of games so it is great to bring on young players who obviously have a chance of stepping up to the first team pool."

Speaking to the club's website, John Potter said of Duthie: "You keep an eye on guys and when he became available we got him in straight away and he impressed in training. He has a great attitude and played three games as a trialist for us and scored in a couple of them and looked a threat.

"Initially it was to be for the under-20s but why not go and push for the first team, I think he has the ability. He is the type of player that the manager likes, someone that can make a difference in the final third and hopefully he is a good addition to the under-20s.

"I think he can play anywhere in the forward area, but he’s played wide left but is comfortable on both sides, probably something like David Hopkirk. He can play up top but can play either wing but he is a threat in the final third. He just needs to knuckle down, work hard and hopefully try and get an opportunity.”
