ATHLETES from Dunfermline Track and Field club won nine medals at the East District Championships last weekend.
These included three golds, three silvers and three bronze.
Under-15 athlete Jade Hutchison claimed gold in both the 100 metres, in a time of 12.44 seconds, and 200m, in a time of 25.34.
Hutchison is currently ranked number one in Britain for the 200m and number one in Scotland for the 100m and her success at this championship is hopefully the start of a very promising season.
“I’m really surprised with how my times are getting better and better mostly every time I run and I am really happy with my result of being number one in the UK,” she said.
The club’s third gold medal of the championships came from under-13 Finley Steel, who threw a personal best (PB) of 23.59 metres in the javelin.
They picked up a silver medal in the under-15 boys’ 100m thanks to Cameron Marshall’s PB of 11.95 and another in the under-15 javelin when Isla Steel threw a PB of 24.13m.
Another silver medal was picked up by Nana Akuoko in the under-15 long jump with a jump of 5.36m and under-15 Daisy Cumming claimed bronze in the 1500m with a PB time of 4:55.59.
The final two bronze medals were thanks to two amazing throws in the shot putt.
One was from Gregor Campbell in the under-15 boys’ competition with a throw of 9.46m and the other by under-13 Jacob Callaghan with a throw of 6.35m.
