DUNFERMLINE have signed former Kilmarnock defender Lee Ashcroft and agreed a deal to keep Michael Moffat at the club.

On a busy day at East End Park yesterday, the club announced that Moffat, 31, had signed a new one-year deal and were pursuing a deal for Ashcroft.

That was completed yesterday afternoon, after the Press went to deadline, and the 22-year-old has signed on the dotted line for two years.

Speaking to Press Sport yesterday, Pars boss Allan Johnston said: "Michael did great last year and had a great partnership with Faiss (Faissal El Bakhtaoui). He makes intelligent runs, scores goals and his attitude is first class.

"I've worked with Lee before and he's at a good age. He wants to kick his career on now and, for him, it's important that he plays week in, week out. He's played 50-60 games in the Premier League with Kilmarnock but he didn't see coming here as a step down. He's looking forward to the challenge.

"He's aggressive, likes to defend and hopefully he'll chip in with a few goals as well."

The powerful centre back came through the youth ranks at Rugby Park and made his debut against Dundee in May 2013.

He went on to make 67 appearances for the Ayrshire side and played a key role as they secured their Premiership survival by thumping Falkirk in the play-offs.
