A RISING Dunfermline motorsport star will fulfil a dream when he gets behind the wheel at Knockhill this weekend.

Ronan Pearson, 14, will take on some of the country's top junior drivers when he races in the Teenage Cancer Trust Junior Saloon Car Championship (JSCC) tomorrow and on Sunday.

With a burning ambition to pursue a motorsport career from an early age, Ronan started racing karts at Raceland in East Lothian when he was just eight years old.

His career is now gaining speed and he has secured an additional boost in sponsorship from oil and gas and marine services firm OEM Group.

The youngster said: "We have worked tirelessly this season to get me and the car into the best possible position, but without a racing budget we can’t go racing and having OEM Group on board is huge for my development and ambitions.

"I can’t thank them enough for their belief in me and I hope to repay them with results. They share my passion for success and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible. I’m hugely proud to represent them on and off the track and we are only just scratching the surface of the relationship. I can’t wait to have them at Knockhill with me.”

Barry Park, managing director of OEM Group, said: "Ronan is a fantastic young driver. It’s so refreshing to see someone with so much determination to succeed and we are extremely proud to be his main sponsor.

"At OEM Group, we strive to ensure that our people can grow into the best version of themselves, and Ronan epitomises this and our other values. Aside from financial support, we provide Ronan with PR and marketing support to help him achieve his goals.

"We’re really looking forward to seeing him race at Knockhill and helping his dreams come to fruition in the future."

Ronan Pearson Racing is run by his father, Chris, who added: "We’ve worked incredibly hard to get Ronan on the grid this year, it’s a huge time and financial commitment for any race team and we have been no different. Barry’s enthusiasm and support is amazing - we wouldn’t be in the position we are in just now without it.

"We are very proud to be representing OEM Group and assisting with their brand awareness out with the oil and marine sectors. Their support in all aspects is invaluable and we hope to continue the relationship into 2017 and beyond.

"We have big plans for 2017 and we want OEM to be part of our growth. Ronan has done himself and everyone proud this year with his maturity and development and we hope that the last two rounds at Knockhill and Silverstone bring him and OEM Group rewards."
