FOUR athletes with Pitreavie AAC Endurance (PAACE) have completed one of sport’s toughest challenges.

Graeme Crane, Cameron Warner, Mark Zuidewind and Graham Gordon competed at Ironman Barcelona, consisting of a 2.4 mile swim, 112 mile bike ride and a 26.2 mile run.

The quartet racked up thousands of miles in training and it paid off as they finished within an hour of each other, as Graeme crossed the line in 10 hours 17 minutes, Cameron in 10:35, Mark in 11:01 and Graham in 11:18.

Closer to home, 16 PAACE members – and runners from Pitreavie’s ‘Ready Steady Go’ programme – took part in the Stirling 10k event, which doubles up as the Scottish 10k championships.

David Henderson (41.03) was first home for PAACE, continuing an impressive run of form that included achieving a new 10k PB in East Neuk and a half marathon PB in Glasgow.

Junior runners Connor Allan and Zoe Nicholson were next home in 41.13 and 43.24, first senior female was Louise Miller (48.08) and fourth Female V60 runner Pam Pattison (48.42).

There were good displays at the Anster Haddies East Neuk 10k, with Henderson again first home in 38th place in 40.31, followed by 59th-placed Steven Birrell in 42.27. Club debutant Tom Sludden crossed the line in 45.02, Miller was first female home in 47.54 and Pattison’s time of 48.49 was enough for third in the FV60 category.

The Glasgow Half Marathon and saw nine PAACE runners line-up at the start. Henderson knocked over two minutes off his previous best for a time of 1:30.43, while Birrell overcame injury problems to finish in 1:33.50.

Gillian Marshall was the first PAACE female in 1:52.16 and there were strong performances from Campbell and Jeanette McNair, Martin Kay, Serene Rajkarnikar, Fiona Macleod and Gillian Fullerton.
