TWO wins in their last 10 league matches is not going to produce a revival as Dunfermline, mired in lower mid-table, host leaders Ayr United on Saturday.

The Pars are 21/10 (Bet365) to record their sixth victory of the season, the Honest Men 7/5 (Betvictor) and a draw 12/5.

On July 3, Betvictor priced Ayr up at 100/1 to win the title and those punters taking the triple-digit price must be on good terms with themselves as the best odds now are only 7/4. The visitors should get at least a draw from this game to keep their momentum going and the stalemate does get marginal preference, primarily because it is a bigger price than the away win; both outcomes appear equally likely. A Dunfermline win is not easy to make a case for.

Prediction: Dunfermline 1 Ayr 1.

Celtic have not been down as low as third place in the Premiership for many seasons but despite having games in hand on Rangers and Kilmarnock above them, at the time of writing the Bhoys are in this unaccustomed position. Nevertheless, Celtic are overwhelming favourites to dispose of Dundee at Parkhead on Saturday (3pm); the prices being Celtic 1/8 (Bet365), a draw 9/1 (Betfair Sportsbook) and Dundee 28/1 (Hills). Even off a -2 handicap you cannot back Celtic at odds against: the Bhoys are 20/21 (Bet365/Betfred), the Dark Blues 11/5 (Betway) and a tie 3/1.

Rangers travel to Perth in the sole televised game of the weekend (BT Sport 1; Sunday 12.15pm) as division leaders. Rangers are 8/13, a draw 31/10 and St Johnstone 5/1 (Bet365). A -1 handicap for the Glaswegians evens things up considerably; off that mark the Gers are 8/5, Saints 6/4 (Bet365) and a tie 11/4 (Skybet).

The NFL is coming to the regular season denouement with only two weeks remaining. For several teams, it is crunch time and defeat for Philadelphia against Houston on Sunday (Sky Sports Action, 6pm) will be the end of the road for the Superbowl champions. The Texans are safely ensconced in the post-season play-offs but would prefer a win to improve their seeding and thus home field advantage. Philadelphia are 10/13 and Houston 23/20 (Paddy Power) to win the game; off an Eagles -2 handicap both sides are 10/11 and total points vary between under 44.5 at 11/10 (Skybet) and over 46.5 at 21/20 (Bet365).
